Surprise Cookies
I just made up the goofiest cookie recipe, but they’re delicious!  They’re not quite what I expected, but they’re light and puffy like muffin tops. 4 tbs. butter 1/3ish c applesauce 1/2 c brown sugar 1/4 c honey 1 egg a generous puddle of vanilla 1/2 c wheat flour 1/2 c almond meal chopped pecans Bake at 375ºF for about 6 minutes.

The importance of capitalization!
From Terri Langhans’ e-newsletter via my Mom. I am a big fan of using initial caps when typing or printing a website url because it just makes it so much easier for the reader to “get it.” That’s why I always use www.MaverickMarketing.com for my consulting and workshop site or www.BlahBlahBlah.us for my speaking site. Wait till you see the sites my friend Scott...

I’m pretty sure this “about” description claiming to rank Google buzz was written in a pre-Google-Buzz world. Mediaite is the site for news, information and smart opinions about print, online and broadcast media, offering original and immediate assessments of the latest news as it breaks. Mediaite’s “Power Grid” objectively ranks media professionals across a dozen categories...

Evangelicals don’t do Lent. If you ask one of them what Lent is even about, there is an excellent chance that they won’t be able to tell you. To them it’s a Catholic thing. Lent has been a Christian tradition since the second century that for some reason has fallen out of favor with the…

One of the most uninteresting parts of the Academy Awards are the borring speeches filled with “thank yous” to agents and producers. This year’s producers of the Academy Awards, Adam Shankman and Bill Mechanic, want to avoid these kind of speeches, and thus have asked this year’s Academy Award nominees to prepare not one, but two speeches. You might be confused — How can two speeches help solve...

This is a sure-fire plan to make enemies with a girl that wishes she was still in high school! Utah state Senator Chris Buttars says he believes he has discovered the cure for senioritis: cut 12th grade altogether. Pitched as a cost-cutting measure, his proposal to eliminate the final year of high school—or at the very least make it optional—has surprisingly gained some traction in the state,...

blast from the past
leggy: four years ago, it was ryan’s sixteenth birthday.  so, julia and i, being clever, took her to the Museum of Fine Arts music series to celebrate. MFAH was celebrating too, with a party saying auvoire to the Basquiat exhibit, aptly called The Beats of Basquiat. Featured that night?  Oh no big deal, just Grandmaster Flash… … We danced our feet off and wore little dresses that, if...

Snowpocalypse is coming
Pre-snow behavior is very similar to pre-hurricane behavior. I’m at tj’s and as far as I can tell they’re two ticks away from calling in the national guard to regulate!

Yay, Addie!  This is so exciting! “Addie will keep the LSU fans on the edge of their seats with her dynamic and exciting attacking style. She has incredibly quick feet and a change of gear with the ball. Defenders will find it difficult to contain her pace and creativity with and without the ball. She has the ability to play centrally, wide, up front or in midfield.  She will be dangerous in...
