the darling snaps are a marvel of luck and circumstance and email-chains, having risen like a phoenix from the ashes this spring long enough to compile this little set of songs for you to enjoy. in the beginning, they were perhaps best known for their lo-fi sound, cultivated by the lowest-fidelity means, and in the middle period often referred to as the “going to the dentist” stage they gained approval for unusual renderings of songs by the smiths and songs about fatherhood but mostly for alex yellin’ over the drum set that EVERY CHORUS WAS YOUR NAME. today, they owe all of their fame and fortune to the patience and encouragement of their friends, especially the superfandom of tom ‘the enforcer’ kelly.
‘keep it with me’ was recorded with TLC (not the R&B group, unfortunately) primarily in washington, dc and secondarily in atlanta and chicago.
I find it curious that Alexandria is number two and DC trails behind at number fourteen!
