Imagine if a cereal box could be reused as a USPS package. That’s the notion suggseted in the image above, by recent graduate BYU-Idaho Tyler McCann. He sent us news of his final BFA project, which is pretty cool:

The premise for this project is sustainability and your blog helped inspire my mindset while researching and designing.
The problem I found was that we are not making the best use of our resources … . My solution involves companies packaging together, so that the consumer can use the product and then reuse the package.
This method makes it easy for the consumer and cuts the impact on our resources and environment in half.
I would also like to credit my professor Shawn Randall as a mentor.

Good stuff, Tyler McCann!

“Starting today, insurance companies are required to offer women a number of preventive services—including birth control—at no cost. So that means there are some angry people out there, like Republican Congressman Mike Kelly, who said, “I know in your mind you can think of times when America was attacked. One is December 7th, that’s Pearl Harbor day. The other is September 11th, and that’s the day of the terrorist attack. I want you to remember August the 1st, 2012, the attack on our religious freedom. That is a day that will live in infamy, along with those other dates.””

Happy Daddy’s Day!

Carlos Maza caught and exposed the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) for claiming that LGBT marriage equality would reduce marriage rates for everyone else, raise divorce rates, expand polygamy, increase promiscuity, and fill elementary schools with sexual propaganda. Carlos’ report about NOM’s planned testimony helped equality advocates in Maryland to prepare factual counter-arguments, and then get a state-level marriage equality law passed last month.

Carlos Maza spends all his time tracking anti-LGBT hate groups, attending their events, devouring their literature, and patiently researching their unsubstantiated claims. His work environment is grueling and demoralizing, but each week he broadcasts his exceptional, infuriating, and frightening results on-line. For anyone working to achieve equality, it’s vital to know exactly what opponents say, when they say it, who they say it to, and especially how they say it.

Carlos doesn’t miss a beat. His work is invaluable.

I woke up this morning determined to finally use the bundt pan I bought months ago and make a pound cake. Here I am in line at WF and what do you know, March 4th is National Pound Cake Day!
